Note: In case several competitors overcame the same height of the obstacle, the ranking is determined by the penalty points obtained in the previous rounds according to the rules of this discipline.

Rules for the High Jump at the Hobbyhorse Championships 2023

For the high jump, one hurdle is used, and the width of the bar over which the jump is made is at least 150 cm.

There will be a start and finish line marked on the course. The start line is marked 1 metre in front of the obstacle and the finish line 1 metre behind the obstacle. In addition, a runway will be available for the competitor to run on.

If a different obstacle is not available for the warm-up, the participants may try the obstacle set to the height determined by the competition judge before the first round.

The initial height of the obstacle will be set at 80 cm in the first round. The height of the obstacle is measured from the centre of the top bar of the obstacle, always before the start of each round. Any change in the height of the obstacle must be communicated to the competitors involved before the start of the round.

Increasing the height of the obstacle is done as follows: 80 cm, 90 cm, 100 cm, 110 cm, 120 cm, 125 cm, 130 cm, 135 cm, 140 cm, 145 cm, 150 cm. In the case of a height higher than 150 cm it is increased by 2 cm.

In each round the competitor has two attempts to jump the obstacle.

The competitor must successfully jump over the obstacle without dropping it in a given round in order to advance to the next round.

Disobedience or a fall between the start and finish line counts as an attempt (with penalty points).

In the case of a successful jump on the first attempt, the competitor does not have to make a second attempt in that round and automatically advances to the next round.

Time is not taken into account in the evaluation of the high jump, but after the start, the competitor has a maximum of 1 minute to jump.

Evaluation criteria:

Successful obstacle jump – 0 penalty points

Falling obstacle – 1 penalty point

Disobedience – 2 penalty points

Fall of the competitor when jumping an obstacle – 1 penalty point (if combined with a fall of the obstacle, an additional penalty point is added for the fall of the obstacle)

Two unsuccessful attempts to jump in the same round – elimination of the competitor from the discipline.

In each round, the penalty points scored for each competitor for both attempts are added together. Penalty points will be used to create a ranking if multiple competitors jump the same obstacle height.

The contestant who successfully jumps the highest obstacle height with the least number of penalty points wins the competition.

The competitors who have overcome the highest obstacle height are placed in the ranking according to the achieved penalty points in ascending order (from the lowest number).

In case the competitors have the same number of penalty points (including 0 penalty points) – the penalty points from the previous round will be taken into account, and the ranking between the competitors will be determined on the basis of these points.

Again, if multiple competitors have the same number of penalty points in this judging round – the next previous round will be taken into account until all competitors are ranked.

If it is not possible to determine the ranking using penalty points because several competitors have the same number of penalty points – the results of the next previous round will be taken into account.

If the competitors have the same number of penalty points in all previous rounds, they will be placed in the same position.

The competitors who finished in the previous rounds will be included in the next ranking using the same procedure.
